Pieces of wood are selected for all sorts of reasons and fascinations: in memory of a particular home where a once special fruit grew – ie Mulberry, Cherry, Apple, etc, etc. The list is endless.

The wooden barrels (which are lined with brass) are most often grain matched so that one can identify that the writing instrument, as we like to call them, is cut and made from a single piece of wood. After cutting the wood to thicknesses of down to 0.25mm, sanding and French polishing the wood is then given a final coat of wax.

Most pens from John Lucas are quality gold plated in either 10K or 24 K gold, some have different styles of metalwork.
